Section 4.7: Mixed Practice

This section provides mixed practice problems combining series, parallel, and two-loop circuits to reinforce problem-solving skills in electric circuits.

Practice Problems

  1. A series circuit contains resistors 3 Ω, 6 Ω, 9 Ω across a 12 V battery. Find total resistance, current, and voltage drop across each resistor.
  2. Two resistors, 4 Ω and 8 Ω, are in parallel with a 10 V battery. Find equivalent resistance and current through each resistor.
  3. Three resistors 2 Ω, 3 Ω, and 6 Ω are connected such that 2 Ω and 3 Ω are in series and then in parallel with 6 Ω. Find total resistance and current for a 12 V battery.
  4. A two-loop circuit has R1 = 5 Ω, R2 = 10 Ω, R3 = 5 Ω with batteries 12 V in loop 1 and 6 V in loop 2. Solve for all branch currents using KCL and KVL.
  5. A mixed circuit contains series-parallel and two-loop combinations. Design a stepwise approach to solve for all currents and voltages.
