Section 5.7: Mixed Practice
This section provides a variety of practice problems combining concepts from magnetism and electromagnetic induction.
Practice Problems
- A coil with 30 turns and area 0.02 m² is in a magnetic field increasing at 0.6 T/s. Calculate the induced emf.
- A magnet is moved towards a loop. Determine the direction of the induced current using Lenz’s Law.
- A rotating coil in a generator has maximum emf of 5 V. If the coil has 50 turns and area 0.03 m², find the angular speed of rotation.
- Explain why increasing the number of turns in a coil increases the induced emf.
- A solenoid has 100 turns and a flux change of 0.1 Wb in 0.2 s. Calculate the average emf.
- Sketch the induced current in a loop as a magnet is pulled out at constant speed.
- Compare the induced emf for two coils: one with double the area and the same flux change rate.
- Explain how electromagnetic induction is applied in household transformers.
